Cup of Thoughts Therapy
A Safe Healing Journey.
Becky Schroeder, MS, LPC-IT
Our work together:
Becoming a parent may be one of the biggest transitions in life and every new parent deserves compassion and support as they navigate this journey. Whether you are struggling to find your new identity as a parent, experiencing depression, anxiety, anger or scary thoughts, or reeling from a birth trauma or loss, I can support you through these challenges and help you feel more like yourself again.
In our time together we’ll work collaboratively to set goals that focus on the change you want to see in your life. In addition to providing a safe and compassionate space for you to process your feelings, we’ll work on coping strategies and tools to help you overcome the challenges you’re facing.
I know this may not be what you expected this time in your life to feel like, but I believe with the right support you can and will feel better. It takes a lot of strength and courage to reach out for support for the challenges you’re facing. By helping yourself, you are helping your entire family thrive, too.
My approach:
The best way for you to heal and move forward is for you to feel safe and comfortable sharing your thoughts and feelings. My goal will be to provide you with a space to share everything, even the things that feel hard to say out loud. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help you find patterns in your thinking and behaviors, and help you see how your thoughts and behaviors greatly affect the way you feel. I also use mindfulness and other techniques to help you manage strong emotions that you can’t seem to get a handle on no matter how hard you try.
Services:
All sessions are provided via Telehealth through SimplePractice, a secure and HIPAA-compliant video platform. Each session is approximately 55 minutes long.

Parents are welcome to bring their baby or toddler into sessions as needed.
My experience:
I’m a licensed Professional Counselor – In Training and I specialize in perinatal mental health.
I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from UW-Madison (2006) and graduated with a Master’s Degree in Counseling from California State University – East Bay (2011).
In my early career I worked with adults with severe and persistent mental illnesses, high school students, and youth in the juvenile detention system.
Inspired by my own challenges with postpartum mental health, I went on to co-found a Wisconsin nonprofit called Moms Mental Health Initiative. Their mission is to connect parents experiencing perinatal mood and anxiety disorders to professional treatment and peer support, and to build awareness of these disorders in the community.
That advocacy work led me to specialize in perinatal psychotherapy and all the work I do today.
About me:
I’m married and have two beautiful daughters who keep me very busy with all their interests and passions. When I’m not working with new parents, you can usually find me at a dance competition or on the sidelines of a soccer game.
I deeply enjoy travel and take every chance I get to visit new places and teach my kids about life outside of their small hometown. I also love to read, do yoga, and spend quality time with friends and family.
