Maternal Mental Health Therapy

Pregnancy and Postpartum

Many emotions arise during pregnancy and postpartum that can be joyful and also, a sense of overwhelm. You're grateful to have a child and yet, may not understand why you have feelings of guilt, anxiety, shame, intrusive thoughts, or sadness. This is a very common feeling for moms. There is often a sense of identity loss after having a child and all the added hormones contribute to how we are feeling.

Specialty Focus

  • Maternal Mental Health (pregnancy, postpartum & beyond, pregnancy loss, and infant loss)

  • Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorder (PMAD) that could include:

    • Depression,

    • Anxiety,

    • OCD,

    • PTSD,

    • Bipolar

    • Psychosis

  • Postpartum PTSD (may include traumatic birth, NICU, nightmares & flashbacks, avoidance of stimuli, increased irritability)

  • Unresolved childhood trauma (such as; emotional neglect, sexual abuse, physical abuse, familial substance abuse, etc.)

It's a struggle and challenge to find balance. You might be feeling alone in the process, even if you're surrounded by others.

Loss and Grief

Experiencing the loss of a pregnancy or a baby brings unimaginable pain and grief. We will work together within a safe and compassionate space.

Postpartum PTSD

Experiencing PTSD can start postpartum if you've had a traumatic birth, NICU stay, flashbacks or nightmares, or recalling a traumatic upbringing.

How I can Help

We will work together on processing the uncomfortable feelings within a safe space. I'll help guide you with learning positive ways of coping, grounding techniques, and regulating intense emotions as they arise. This will be essential to your healing journey as we start deeper work. We'll work at a pace that feels safe and comfortable to you.You will begin to find a sense of calm once you're able to release those negative feelings bottled up inside of you.

Location

I'm currently offering all sessions via Telehealth (online) through a HIPAA compliant platform. We can do therapy while you're still attending to the needs of your child or if they're old enough, they can possibly play on their own, and we can have time just for you.

Appointment Times

I'm available for sessions between 9:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.

Cost

Any out-of-pocket expenses are due at the start of session.

Insurance

I'm in-network and accept Anthem BlueCross BlueShield, UMR, UnitedHealthcare, and Medicaid.

Out-of-Network:

I encourage using out-of-network insurance too. Most out-of-network insurances cover 50-80% of the cost after your deductible has been met. We can work together on learning about your insurance benefits and I can call on your behalf. When you do use out-of-network, all sessions will still need to be paid in full at your scheduled time. I can provide you with a receipt (superbill) to submit for reimbursement.
