Deanna Stadler, MS, LMFT

About My Work

I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with specialized training in Family Systems Therapy. I believe that any shift within a family—whether it’s the birth or adoption of a child, a new pregnancy, or a perinatal loss—impacts every member of that system. I’m passionate about supporting both new and seasoned parents as they navigate these transitions. Whether you’re welcoming another child, experiencing the growing pains of parenting, or seeking help for depression, anxiety, or other mental health challenges, I’m here to walk alongside you.

Reaching out for help is an act of courage. It takes real strength and self-awareness to seek support, and I honor that. When we work together, you can expect a compassionate space where you are the expert in your own experience. We’ll move at a pace that feels right for you, set goals collaboratively, and check in regularly to ensure therapy is meeting your needs. Your feedback is always welcome—this is your journey.

My Approach

At the core of my work is Family Systems Therapy, which recognizes that when one person in a family is affected, everyone else is, too. This approach also takes into account generational patterns, cultural influences, and community dynamics that shape how we experience life and relationships.

I also incorporate:

  • Psychodynamic Therapy – Helping you gain deeper self-understanding and insight into your behaviors

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) – Supporting you in managing disruptive emotions and recognizing how thoughts, feelings, and actions are connected

  • Mindfulness – Guiding you in grounding practices to help regulate emotions and stay present

  • Psychoeducation – Providing discussion and support around common mental health conditions during pregnancy and postpartum, including depression, anxiety, and other mood disorders. We’ll explore strategies to manage symptoms and promote emotional well-being

Services

All sessions are provided via Telehealth through SimplePractice, a secure and HIPAA-compliant video platform. Each session is approximately 55 minutes long.

Parents are always welcome to bring their baby or toddler into sessions as needed.

How I Became a Therapist

I earned my Bachelor of Science in Child and Family Studies from UW–Madison in 1998, and then went straight into graduate school at Edgewood College, where I completed my Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy in 2001.

My early work as a therapist focused on teens with co-occurring substance use and mood disorders. I spent my afternoons working one-on-one with teens and my evenings supporting their families. This dual approach—addressing both individual needs and the broader family system—proved incredibly effective and fulfilling.

Later in my career, I worked as an In-Home Therapist, providing intensive therapy to children and adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder. I also led in-clinic social skills groups and provided outpatient mental health therapy to parents, individuals, and families navigating anxiety, mood disorders, and the daily stressors impacting the family unit.

A Bit About Me

I’m the proud mother of four amazing children. I've experienced the emotional rollercoaster of postpartum hormones, sleepless nights, and the overwhelming anxiety that can come with each new stage of parenting. I’ve also experienced the deep joys of parenthood—and the tremendous pressure we often place on ourselves to be "perfect."

I know firsthand how scary and uncertain early parenting can feel. These feelings are real, and I’m here to help you work through them with support and compassion.

I love to move—whether it’s through running, stretching, or simply being outdoors—and I believe deeply in the healing power of connection, movement, and a sense of belonging.
